What is Bioderma Hydrabio Légère?

It is the light face cream of the Bioderma Hydrabio range, made for dehydrated skin and suitable for teenagers and adults. The texture is fresh: on contact with the skin the cream turns into a water-like fluid and leaves a light, comfortable feel. It has a delicate green, floral scent. Bioderma points out that the formula has a physiological pH, is silicone-free and the cream is non-comedogenic. The cream is made in France and can be used 7 days a week.

Ingredients and what they do

The cream is built around Bioderma’s Aquagenium+ complex, which stimulates the skin’s own hydration mechanisms, and hyaluronic acid, which helps bind water. Bioderma explains that Aquagenium+ stimulates aquaporins, the skin’s water channels, and its natural moisturising factors. High molecular weight hyaluronic acid and glycerin hold water in the skin. Niacinamide supports the skin’s own lipid production, prebiotic sugar feeds the skin microbiome that takes part in the barrier function, and squalane and tocopherol complete the care.

According to Bioderma, the cream strengthens the skin barrier and helps keep hydration up through temperature changes, pollution and stress. In Bioderma’s instrumental test, skin hydration is 66% higher after 8 hours (12 people) and water loss through the skin is 7% lower (10 people). In a clinical study (41 volunteers, twice a day for 28 days), 83% said their skin felt continuously hydrated, 76% noted a lastingly radiant complexion and 71% lastingly strengthened skin.
