Tanning: sun protection, bronzers and self-tanners

The tanning category holds products that prepare skin for the sun, protect it outdoors and keep the colour: tanning creams, sprays, gels and oils, products with bronzers, sun protection and tinted self-tanning products. The range suits a beach holiday and tanning at home.

Tanning is not one single product. Some focus on protection (SPF), some on deepening colour with a bronzer, some on soothing skin after the sun. Combine them and you get a routine that fits you.

How to choose tanning products

• Sun protection factor (SPF): the lighter and more sensitive your skin, the higher the factor. Tanning sprays and gels range from low to high protection, for example SPF 6 up to SPF 50.
• Bronzer: products with bronzing components give the skin a deeper shade with less time in the sun.
• Texture: sprays and gels are convenient for large areas, oils and creams feel richer and more caring.
• For the face: there are sticks and creams for the face that also work on tattoos and sensitive spots.
• After sun: aloe gel cools and moisturises skin.

What is the difference between tanning lotion and sunscreen?

In the sun it is usually reapplied every couple of hours, and after swimming or sweating.
