Babé – dermocosmetics created by two pharmacists in Valencia

Babé is a Spanish dermocosmetics brand founded in 1990 by two pharmacists in the back room of a pharmacy in Valencia. Laboratorios Babé makes care for the whole family: sensitive and very dry skin, babies and children, sun protection and everyday hygiene. Its motto is “Simply Essential”: fewer products, each with a clear purpose, in formulas adapted to the skin’s natural pH. From a pharmacy back room to 55 countries

The founders, pharmacists Vicente Ruiz and Romualdo Bertomeu, set out to create high-quality dermocosmetics that meet pharmaceutical standards and answer real skin problems. They first recommended their products to their sisters, parents, neighbours and friends: the people they cared about most.

The timeline is short and busy. In 1998 the brand took on a new corporate identity, and in 1999 Portugal became its first foreign market. In 2003 Babé moved into Latin America and launched Oil Soap, which became the brand’s icon and best seller. In 2007 came the pediatric line for babies and children, together with the first European partners in the Baltic countries, Hungary and Greece. Stop AKN, a line for oily and acne-prone skin, followed in 2008; Babé reached China in 2018, and in 2021 the sun care range grew with Super Fluid, a facial sunscreen with a very fluid texture.

Today Babé products are sold in 55 countries. The company runs its own research and development department, and its headquarters are in Paterna, near Valencia.

What the brand stands for

A few principles apply across every line:

• Gentle hygiene. Cleansers use syndet formulas with a physiological, skin-adapted pH.
• Tested formulas. Products are dermatologically tested and go through use tests on volunteers.
• Active ingredients at an effective dose. Each product states its benefit clearly.
• Sensible sizes. Many products come in mini formats for trying and in larger family formats that cost less per use.

The lines at a glance

The range is organised by line. Facial Serums are concentrated face serums, HealthyAging+ looks after mature skin and DEPIGMENT+ is aimed at dark spots. Stop AKN is for oily and acne-prone skin. Sunscreen and Mineral photoprotection cover sun care for face, body and children. The Body line brings together cleansers, creams, deodorants and hand and foot care. Pediatrics is the baby and kids line, the Hair line holds the shampoos and lotions, and Essentials are the everyday basics.

A deodorant for the whole family: Deodorant 24H Roll On

Babé Deodorant 24H Roll On 50 ml neutralises and prevents body odour for 24 hours. It is a deodorant rather than an antiperspirant, so the skin keeps breathing and perspiring naturally. A 6 % anti-odour complex does the work against odour, 0.2 % prebiotic looks after the skin’s microbiome and 0.1 % bisabolol soothes and softens the underarm. The formula contains no alcohol, does not stain clothes and has a mild, clean scent.

Because the formula is so gentle, it suits all skin types, including the most sensitive, and boys and girls from the age of 8. Sun protection for lips: Invisible Stick Lip Protector SPF 50

Babé Invisible Stick Lip Protector SPF 50 4 g is a transparent lip stick with high sun protection. It protects the lips against UVB and UVA rays, infrared (IR-A) and the blue light (HEV) given off by screens and mobile devices. The formula holds 8.2 % squalane, a jojoba active, shea butter and avocado oil, which moisturise, nourish and soothe dry lips.

The stick is water resistant, so you can wear it for swimming and water sports. It leaves no white residue, the finish is fully transparent and a pleasant protective film stays on the lips. Use it every day on clean, dry lips and reapply whenever needed. It is dermatologically tested and suitable for all skin types.

Face care: Hydra Serum and the HealthyAging+ day cream

Babé Hydra Serum 30 ml is a hydrating serum with four types of hyaluronic acid: low, medium and high molecular weight, plus an encapsulated form. Together with panthenol and prebiotics they give immediate and long-lasting moisture, smooth and plump the skin and leave it soft. Prebiotics and postbiotics keep the skin microbiome in balance. The texture is light, non-oily and quick to absorb, with a velvety feel. Apply 3–4 drops to clean, dry skin on the face, neck and neckline and massage until absorbed. Babé HealthyAging+ Multi Protector Lifting Cream SPF30 50 ml is a day cream with a tightening effect. Its SPF 30 protects against UVB, UVA, infrared, blue light and everyday pollution. The formula combines 3 % Centella asiatica, 2.5 % DMAE, elastin, collagen, panthenol, vitamins C and E, hyaluronic acid and a prebiotic. It keeps the skin hydrated for up to 24 hours, reduces wrinkles, improves elasticity, evens the tone and leaves a velvety finish. Use it every morning on clean, dry skin.

Very dry skin on the body: Balm to Oil and SOS Soothing Spray

Babé Balm to Oil 500 ml is a nourishing body balm whose creamy texture turns into a light dry oil as you massage it in. It is rich in plant oils: chia and inca inchi oils bring omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids that improve moisture and elasticity and reduce water loss. Ceramides, vitamin F, a natural moisturising factor, a prebiotic and a probiotic lysate complete the formula. The balm restores and protects the skin barrier, gives instant softness and comfort and prevents dryness and tightness. Babé SOS Soothing Spray 125 ml is a creamy soothing body spray with a non-drip texture. You do not need to rub it in by hand: it clings to the skin and forms a protective film that calms tight, dry and itchy skin. The formula contains a soothing plant extract, prebiotics and a probiotic lysate, bisabolol, chia and inca inchi oils, a natural moisturising factor and ceramides, which restore the skin barrier and keep the skin hydrated and supple. 96.5 % of its ingredients are of natural origin. Spray from at least 20 cm and let the skin absorb it by itself; reapply as often as you like. It is suitable for all skin types from 3 years of age and especially for very dry or atopic-prone skin.

For children and sensitive scalps: Pediatric Bath Gel and Extra Mild Shampoo

Babé Pediatric Bath Gel 500 ml is an extra mild bath gel for the daily wash of babies and children. Its syndet formula cleanses more gently than ordinary bath gels and respects the skin’s pH. It foams nicely, does not sting the eyes and leaves the skin clean, soft and fresh. The Babé Baby-Care complex combines calendula, mimosa and aloe vera. The gel is pediatrically and dermatologically tested and has a very mild scent. Pour a little into your hand, massage it over the child’s wet body and rinse with plenty of water. Babé Extra Mild Shampoo 250 ml belongs to the Hair line and is made for the most delicate scalp. It suits all skin and hair types, especially a sensitive scalp, and is meant for daily use. It contains 2.7 % hair conditioners, 1 % honey extract, 1 % panthenol and 1 % sodium PCA. The shampoo cleanses deeply without drying out the hair, moisturises and protects the hair follicle and fibre, makes combing easier and helps prevent frizz and breakage.
