On the pack it is called Extra-Gentle Lotion, and in French “Lotion hydratante mains & corps – verveine”. It combines two well-known L’Occitane ingredients, nourishing shea butter and fresh verbena.

L’Occitane says the lotion helps counteract the drying effects of hard, limescale-rich water by moisturising the skin. Used after washing your hands, it softens the skin and protects it from drying out. It is a handy choice for anyone who washes their hands often and wants the skin to stay soft afterwards.

Shea butter and verbena

Shea butter is known for its nourishing properties. L’Occitane sources its shea butter from women in Burkina Faso who harvest and process the shea nuts. This lotion contains 5% shea butter, as the round bottle label also states.

Verbena gives the lotion its fresh citrus scent. The formula contains lemon verbena leaf extract and litsea cubeba fruit oil, along with glycerin, grape seed oil, sunflower seed oil and vitamin E (tocopherol).

L’Occitane states that 96% of the ingredients are of natural origin and that the formula is 99% readily biodegradable.
