The skin’s protective acidic, or hydrolipidic, layer is only mildly acidic. It’s important for its pH to stay within the range of 5.4-5.9, since this activates protective enzymes that regulate bacterial growth and promote the shedding of dead skin cells. In sensitive skin, this layer is no longer acidic, disrupting the skin’s natural defences. A citrate buffer solution with a pH of 5 helps restore and maintain the skin’s natural pH, supporting enzyme activation and protecting skin from irritants.
The cream’s formula also includes the active ingredient dexpanthenol, known for its restorative, wound-healing properties. Dexpanthenol, derived from pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5), is a very powerful moisturiser. It improves the moisture content of the skin’s outer layers and helps reduce transepidermal water loss. Dexpanthenol keeps skin soft and elastic. It strengthens the skin’s natural defence mechanisms and reduces sensitivity. It also stimulates skin renewal and repair. Regular use has been proven to noticeably relieve symptoms of skin irritation, such as dryness, roughness, flaking and redness.
Glycerine, also included in the formula, is a humectant that helps skin bind and retain water. Glycerine has a very effective moisturising action – it smooths dry skin and provides long-lasting protection and care. Glycerine is a colourless, odourless and non-toxic compound.
