Description

Description

Bioderma Atoderm hand cream (Mains & Ongles) is an ultra-nourishing cream in a 50 ml tube. It is made for dry to very dry hands and nails. Bioderma says it gives 8 hours of hydration, absorbs quickly and leaves the skin soft with a non-oily finish.

What is Bioderma Atoderm hand cream?

It is a hand cream from the Bioderma Atoderm range, made in France. The cream is meant for everyday care of the skin of the hands and the nails. Bioderma lists it for adults and children. The texture is non-oily and absorbs very quickly. Bioderma describes its action like this: the cream moisturises, repairs dry hands, gives the skin a protective glove effect and strengthens the nails.

Who is it for?

The pack reads “peaux sèches à très sèches”, which means dry to very dry hands. Bioderma explains that the skin of the hands has few sebaceous glands, the glands that make the skin’s natural protective lipids. That is why hand skin benefits from a regular hand cream. The cream also suits anyone who washes or disinfects their hands often.

Ingredients and what they do

Among the ingredients, Bioderma highlights shea butter, which contains fatty acids similar to those of the skin, including omega 3, 6 and 9. According to Bioderma, shea oil nourishes the skin and supports its barrier function. The cream also contains niacinamide and glycerin. The formula includes Bioderma’s patented D.A.F.™ complex, which Bioderma says increases the skin’s tolerance threshold.

Bioderma says a phosphorylcholine derivative helps strengthen the skin barrier and captures and holds ambient moisture as the humidity changes. The cream forms a protective hydrogel on the surface of the skin that stays effective even after repeated washing. That hydrogel is what creates the glove effect.

According to Bioderma, the cream provides 8 hours of hydration, and after 21 days of regular use skin hydration is 75% higher (corneometry, 11 volunteers aged 21 to 62). In Bioderma’s usage test, 100% of the participants said the cream gives the skin a feeling of comfort.

How to use

  1. Apply a little cream to clean, dry hands.
  2. Massage gently until it is absorbed, including around the nails.
  3. Use it morning and evening, and as often as your hands need care, for example after washing.

Bioderma recommends using the cream every day, as often as needed, so keep your Bioderma Atoderm hand cream within reach. For a more intensive treatment, you can apply the cream in the evening and leave it on overnight under cotton gloves, for example for a week. For washing your hands, take a look at our hand soaps. You will find more hand care in the hand creams category and the whole range on the Bioderma page.
